Yoga Nidra this week!
As we head into Memorial Weekend I am planning a special Yoga class on Friday, the 27th of May. I will present a Yoga Nidra class at 9:15am in the Caldwell YMCA. Yoga Nidra translated as “Yogic sleep, is a five stage process that begins with a body scan to engage one’s physicality, and it incorporates meditation on the breath” and continues by balancing the emotional states, visualizations and then self healing. It is a Script that I will read, while everyone is in a very relaxed/reclined position on their mats, where the entire body will totally relax, even though the mind is still awake and focused on following my voice as I read aloud from my script with instructions that will help us mentally relax. It is one of the best therapeutic, restful & harmonious activities you can do for your mind and body. Yoga Nidra has the ability to totally relax the body, the mind and the nervous system simultaneously. You may feel as though you’ve had hours of sleep, without actually falling asleep. This remarkable class (that I learned through my yoga therapy training from my teacher, Jeanne Dillion) requires a very concentrated and focused mind, and a still body to work through the script that will be read and allow you to absorb what you hear and feel. If you are interested in attending this session, please be on time to class and plan to stay for the entire 45 minutes. We will leave a note on the door asking late comers to please not enter after we have started. I think you will enjoy this very much and it will be a great energizing start to the long Memorial Weekend Holiday. Namaste’
